Archeology

The Inca influences are found in a display of proofs in the valley.

The Rock with 7 Holes
The Rock with 7 Holes: is located at the Hacienda Cachiyaco (meaning “river of salt”) To get to the place takes a 15 minute walk from Yangana center, no trail is marked and adequate warm cloth and comfortable shoes are needed.

It’s said that this stone was utilized to wash and grind gold and other metals. Similar stones found in other parts of Ecuador were used for the Inca Baths and the holes would be where they kept their balsams and oils.

On the same road, two kilometers away you can get to the Ruedos de Piedra which they used for communicating with smoke signals, or for storing treasures. They are covered in vegetation and can be found in other sites of the valley too. There are no trails marked and it takes about 10 minutes walking. Anther reference: there is a stone chair and tools that Incas used for grinding. .

In Yangana, you can also find tunnels made by Incas, underground spring water and salty waters rivers.
