Located 40 km. from Vilcabamba, it’s the Oriental door to Loja province that allows visitor to contemplate the fertile and beautiful fields of Quinara, Vilcabamba, Malacatos and other smaller villages on the way to Loja. Palmira River has permitted a sustainable agriculture and cattle activity in the place, surrounded by lemon and orange trees, sugar canes and coffee plants river side. In the valley you can also find diversity of orchids, willows, conifer, helechos, among a number of animals too.
The incredible diversity of the local geography presents different landscapes. Green valleys with warm weather, the Andean ranges with its arid fields and weather are commonly found here. As a main tourist attraction, on the northwest, is the 6m Cascade of Suros descending from the Podocarpus Nat. Park.
