This little village still keeps its colonial buildings. The church in the center was built in “tapia” and wood and it’s surrounded by colorful big houses with ample corridors, big patios and beautiful gardens.
Besides this attractive village, there is a Protected Area, “El Bosque”, very similar in flora and fauna to the Podocarpus Forest., is two hours distant and you can get there by walking or riding.
You can also visit “El Condor”, located 6 from San Pedro, this natural panoramic site has an extension of 52 hectares and give you the chance to enjoy the whole circumferential stunning view.
At 1800 m. of altitude, temperature ranges from 10 to 24 degrees centigrade depending on the season. Winter time, from December to June, is kind of warm while its summer, July to November is colder; however, no extreme temperatures have been registered here.
To visit the place from Vilcabamba, it’s possible to hire a guide person and take a hard 2 hour-trekking which requires a couple of strong legs.
