This valley full of myths and legends still keeps its colonial style houses, surrounded by sugar cane fields and pasture farms; it’s a place worth visiting the grindings and see how the delicious local panela is produced.
Run by the river Palmira, the valley still hides “Atahualpa Treasure”. According to an old legend, once the Inca leader was captured by Spaniards, a room full of gold was offered for his rescue, so cargoes of gold started to be mobilized from different parts of Tahuantinsuyu (Inca territory). On July of 1533, Spaniards broke the deal and Atahualpa was executed. News was spread rapidly by the Chasquis (running massagers) and the gold was hidden in different locations, Quinara seems to be one of those.
