Grandiosity of the place is endless with its majestic views, unique weather and healing properties of its waters attract people from all over the globe.

WALKS

The valley of longevity offers from easy relaxing walks for beginners to exigent difficult trails to the Podocarpus for experts.

By the Cajanuma entrance, it is possible to take walks of 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on the marked trails you may choose.

The Rumi Wilco Reserve has marked trails that take you to Yambala River in 2 to 4 hour tours where is also possible to visit the beautiful cascades.

Cerro Guaranga can be reached for the amazing views and the healing properties of Iron Water.

Visiting Quinara is a journey to its pre Hispanic past when taking a 2 hour trek through a path that was commonly used by the Incas to head “El Dorado”.

To climb the Mandango and enjoy its stunning view take about 3 hours

HORSE TOURS

Horses can be rented to make a tour around the valley, prices start from $15(2 to 4 hours) and $30 for all day. The latter includes a visit to the cascades.

Local guides are offered for these tours.

Los recorridos de un día permiten observar algunas cascadas que se encuentran en la entrada de ciertas reservas naturales. El costo es de $30 dólares.

TOURS

They can be done in 4 or 5 days depending on the tourists’ interest, the two first days are for horsing and the third for walking. During the tour you can see:

  • A selection of cascades and water falls.
  • The Rain Forest
  • The highlands and lake region

These tours have to be done with licensed guides, one every 4 people maximum, $30 per person per day which includes horse, food and lodging. Each person has to take its belongings.

Tours of two days to Quinara are also offered.

BICYCLE

Tourists enjoy biking Vilcabamba a lot, that’s why some hostels offer bikes to their guests or renting them in town for $2 an hour or $10 a day.
